What is Sales Tax Nexus?

On June 21, 2018, The United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in South Dakota vWayfair that states can mandate that businesses without a physical presence in a state with more than 200 transactions or $100,000 in-state sales collect and remit sales taxes on transactions in the state.

This overruled the previous standard that out of state sales exempt from tax.  Since the ruling almost every state has jumped on board with new laws requiring out-of-state retailers to collect and remit sales tax once nexus has been reached.
